Day 01: Apt “Mother Teresa” – DURRES Welcome in Albania! Meet the guide and driver at the airport and transfer to Durres (40 min) If the time permits, we may start with the visit of Durres, the second most important city in Albania. Our walking tour will start from Venetian Tower and the Byzantine stretch of wall, “the old-and-new-in the same time” promenade of Durres. We’ll explore the ruins of town forum, roman baths, city center, town hall, Roman Amphitheaterand Venetian tower a panoramic display of discoveries and urban planning of this once important city. Durres – Shkodra – Durres (220km – 4h30min) Enjoy breakfast and beautiful panorama of Adriatic Sea. Today we’ll drive for two hours towards north Albania, in Shkodra city, considered as the capital of North Albania. Its geographic location has made Shkoder, one of Europe's oldest cities, an important cultural and economic center of the Balkans over the years. Historically the city acted as the base of Queen Teuta' Illryan's kingdom in the 3rd century and as the center of the Gheg cultural region. Surrounded by mountains and marked by many stunning( and recent) renovations, Shkoder draws visitors with its historical city center and famous fortress. Upon arrival in Shkodra, we suggest to have a visit in the Venetian Mask Fabric. A great place where you can learn everything about the history of masks. The showroom takes you to another reality while being there. Every piece of art has its own history and fascinates you with all the details. A place you go once and always remember! Stroll around in the main pedestrian area of Shkodra, visit Catholic Cathedral and know more about the trustful history during the period of dictatorship regime. You may visit Rozafa Fortress, the highlight of Shkodra monuments. (Guest should know that It takes 15 – 20 min walking up inside the fortress). From its ancient Illyrian walls and the medieval ruins of the Balshaj, to the Towers of the Bushatllinj, Rozafa Castle is a monumental testament to the beauty of an everlasting fortress. It is surrounded by the waters of three rivers; the Drini, Buna, and Kiri, and it offers an amazing panorama of rivers and Shkodra Lake from the top of the fortress. Proceed driving to Fishta, a different wonderful atmosphere in the middle of green area and welcomed by local folk. Prepare for traditional lunch in the agriculturist farm: Mrizi i Zanave. Is not just a meal, is a pure show of the Albanian cuisine, brought in table directly form the land in the finest way. Drive back to your hotel in Durres Dinner and overnight in Durres PREMIUM BEACH HOTEL 5*
